Ms. Froum's Fabulous Class Goes to the Island..........Study Island!!
Sage Academy offers a fantastic study resource for our students! It's called Study Island and every student in our fabulous class can start using it right away!~ There are terrific problems and resources in every subject area for use in our class and that YOU can use anywhere you have internet access! Keep reading to see the specifics and then a general overview below.
Here is how to get started:
1. Go to studyisland.com
2. login is your child's first name and first letter of your last name and then @Sage,
for example, Luke Miller would be LukeM@Sage
3. Password is 12345
Once you're on the site, click on grades 2, 3, or 4, in any subject area to get practice problems and printable worksheets. I suggest trying the Common core Math and ELA, especially in the areas of word problems in math, and reading comprehension.
You can get on every day and work to supplement homework, brush up or get ahead on needed skills, or utilize when your child misses school. Study Island is a chance to get additional practice OR get ahead!!

Using Study Island from Home
Study Island is completely Web-based, which allows students to access the program from any computer with an Internet connection and a standard Web browser. Study session results are automatically recorded for teacher review, including results from sessions completed outside of school.
The program is divided into sections based on subject (math, reading, etc.). Each section is made up of 15 to 30 topics, with each topic containing about 20 to 30 questions. Topics are accompanied by a lesson, which contains a brief overview of the material covered in that topic.
Follow the instructions below to use the program:
Select a subject under Reports on the left-hand side of the screen to access your reports.

What is Study Island?
- Study Island is an all online product designed to help your child master the standards specific to his or her grade level in your state.
Fast Facts:
- Every student has his/her own username and password.
- The program is divided into sections based on subject.
- Each subject is made up of topics, each of which corresponds to a specific state standard.
- Each topic contains lessons, practice questions and explanations.
- Most topics are accompanied by a lesson which includes some brief information about the material covered by the questions in the topic.
- Your child can also incorporate games into their studies while on Study Island, if the school allows.
- After signing in on Study Island’s home page, click the subject tab on which you wish to work or check your student’s class page for assignments created by your child’s teacher.
- To pass a topic, your child must satisfy the topic’s passing goal which is based on a minimum number of questions answered and a minimum percentage correct. A blue ribbon is displayed next to all passed topics.
- Once your child has passed all of the topics in the subject, he or she will have to pass the Post Test for the subject. Ignore this step if the subject has no Post Test.
- Once your child passes all topics in all sections, he has completed the Study Island program.
How do I monitor my child’s progress?
- Log in to Study Island with your student’s username and password.
- Click on My Reports.
- Click on a report and select the appropriate grade level.
Using Study Island from Home

Follow the instructions below to use the program:
- Go to www.studyisland.com.
- Enter your username and password at the upper left side of the screen, and click “Submit.” Students will receive a username and password from their school.
- Click on a subject (math, reading, etc.).
- If this is the first time using the program, click "Pretest." You must complete 10 Pretest questions to unlock the rest of the content in that subject. If there is no Pretest option, or if you have already taken the Pretest, you may move on to the other content topics.
- Choose a Session Type. The default setting is Practice Mode, however students may also select Printable Worksheet or Game Mode if permitted by the school.
- To pass a topic, you must meet the passing requirements, which are based on a minimum number of questions answered (usually 10) and a minimum percentage correct (around 70%). A blue ribbon icon () is displayed next to all passed topics.
- Once you have completed the Pretest, you may work through the remainder of the topics in any order. You must pass all topics before taking the Post Test.
- Once you have passed all the topics, you must pass the Post Test to complete the subject. Ignore this step if the subject has no Post Test.
- When you pass all topics in all subjects, you have completed the program.
